The Betty Hise Legacy

Betty Hise (1916–1987) of Corvallis, Oregon, was the wife of Elks Past Grand Exalted Ruler Frank Hise. When Betty was diagnosed with breast cancer, she lived with courage and grace for 15 more years.

After she passed in 1987, friends in Oregon and Idaho chose to honor Betty’s life by supporting cancer research. Today, Betty Hise for Cancer Research, Inc. has contributed more than $800,000 specifically to research — fueling discovery, strengthening care, and helping bring hope to families who are facing cancer.

Fundraising is done at Elks Lodges and private donors throughout Oregon and Idaho. Donations are carefully stewarded and invested. Each year our volunteer Board of Directors approves distributions to two beneficiary partners: St. Luke’s Cancer Institute in Idaho and the Knight Cancer Institute at OHSU in Oregon.
